Dr Raj Acquilla graduated from Manchester University Medical School in 1999 and during his 14 year medical career has gained 11 years experience in Cosmetic Dermatology having performed over 20,000 procedures.

He is an expert in medical aesthetics, facial contouring, volume replacement, Dermatological surgery including facial skin cancer and undergraduate / postgraduate clinical education. David practises at the Integrative Medical Centre, where his main focus is to get to the root cause of disease and illness. One of his areas of interest is the relationship between emotional and physical health, and he specialises in devising personalised treatment plans that address all aspects that contribute to wellness. David has extensive medical experience and understands the benefits of conventional medicine, as well as the harm it can cause in the body. Dr Anjana Bhana (South Africa)

speakers_clip_image053Dr Bhana graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2005, taking the SADA Medal for leadership (for her role as Dental Student Council President as well as other leadership roles) as well as The Maxillo Facial Department’s Research award for her study on Rhinocerebral Mucomycosis in a Ketoacidotic Diabetic.


She is currently a trainer for the Restylane range of tissue fillers. She has also completed a ‘train the trainer’ masterclass with Dr Fredrik Berne, a world-renowned Swedish Plastic Surgeon. Dr Anjana has completed the the Advanced Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine with Distinction.

Ms Isabel Carstens-Roos (South Africa)

Isabel is the Managing Director of the ISA Carstens Group of companies and married to Gerhard Roos, Chief Executive Officer of the ISA Carstens Group of companies situated in the heart of Stellenbosch. Isabel has one daughter, also named Isabel who completed her studies in Health and Skin Care at the Isa Carstens Academy at the end of 2007.

When Isabel is not living her passion at work, she enjoys music, reading, hiking and bird watching in her spare time.

Isabel acts as an examiner for the South African Association of Health and Skin Care Professionals and CIDESCO.

She received the SAAHSP President’s trophy for a presentation during the CIDESCO General Assembly at the World Congress in Athens Greece during 1997.

In 1999 she led the company to become a provincial winner and a national finalist in the Old Mutual and Business Partners for Service Excellence competition.

Under her leadership, the Isa Carstens Academy offers training programmes, which have been accredited by Services Seta, PAB, SAQA and registered by the Department of Higher Education. The Isa Carstens qualifications were registered through EDEXCEL on the UK NQF.

Dr Zeljka Clark (Yugoslavia)

Dr Zeljka Clark graduated at the University of Belgrade in 1991, trained as O&G at the University of Witwatersrand.

She has additional training on Surgery and Urology. She currently works as an O&G consultant at Rahima Moose Mother and Child Hospital.

Professor Maurizio Ceccarelli (Italy)

Director of the Centre for Study and Research in Aesthetic and Physiological Medicine
Professor of Physiological Medicine and Aesthetic Medicine at the University of Barcelona Studies – Spain and at the University of Camerino – Italy.

Graduated in Medicine and Biological Sciences, specializing in General Pathology and Cardiovascular Diseases, he has been concerned since 1985 Aesthetic Medicine laying the scientific foundation of this branch and formulating, in 1990, the conceptual assumptions of Physiological Medicine, medical branch of optimization of well-being.

Dr Vernon Ching (South Africa)

He graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) and did his internship at Baragwaneth Hospital in Soweto the following year. In 1990 he completed a Senior House Officer training post at the Johannesburg General Hospital which included ICU, Paediatric Surgery, Urology and Trauma. At the Helen Joseph Hospital in 1991, he commenced with a General Surgery Registrar post as a prerequisite to entering the Plastic Surgery Rotation at WITS in 1992.

After completing his Plastic Surgery Rotation in 1995, Dr. Ching passed the Fellowship Exams of the College of Medicine of South Africa and was registered as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon with the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa). Soon afterwards he was appointed Head of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Baragwaneth Hospital in 1996 and subsequently Head of Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at WITS from 1997 until 1998. In 1999, Dr. Ching opted to leave the Department to commence with Private Practice.

Dr Shahien Dollie (South Africa)

Dr Shahien Dollie has an acute passion for aesthetic medicine and is an active practitioner and advocate for this growing field in South Africa, a country both plagued and blessed as being a first and third world country. After attaining his MBChB from the University of Cape Town in 2006, Dr Shahien Dollie practiced general medicine and orthopaedics. He then developed an interest and fascination for aesthetic medicine. Dr Shahien Dollie graduated (cum laude) and completed the only registered course on aesthetic medicine in South Africa: the Advanced Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine in 2014. He has completed numerous other aesthetic training sessions, workshops and congresses since, and has been appointed Medical Director at The Aesthetic Doctors. Dr Shahien Dollie is a member of the South African Association of Cosmetic Doctors and the Aesthetic and Anti-aging Medicine Society of South Africa.

Dr Michelle Emett (South Africa)

Dr.Emett has been a qualified, medical doctor for 16 years. After working in Accident and Emergency Medicine in the UK and then in Pharmaceuticals, she has found her passion  in Aesthetic Medicine (Health and Beauty Medicine).


Says Dr. Emett: “The face is the most beautiful and intricate part of our being. It is fascinating to observe that all human beings follow the same pattern of facial ageing. First, fat pads from the cheeks diminish, followed by deep lines developing from nose to jaw; our lips retract into our mouths and finally, we end up losing our natural jaw line to jowls. Beautiful! Dr Sahar Foad Ghannam (Canada)

Dr Ghannam graduated 1983 from Alexandria University Egypt Grade Very good , a Master Degree of Dermatology & Venereology & Andrology in 1986. A PhD in 1994 with a thesis on Aging and Photoaging and Ionizing Radiation on the skin , In 1995 a board examination was passed to successfully achieve Doctorate Degree of Dermatology Venereology & Andrology. During that time I upscaled in the University positions from a teacher assistant uptil Associate Professer in Alexandria University. Since 2005 I had been running and operating my own clinic. I do lots of cosmetic procedures ,but a great part of my practice is also for general dermatology. I am also a world expert in chemical peels especially for our ethnic skin type. I am an active member in many International soceities as AAD since 1987 , EADV , ISD , ISDS ,ESLD , DASIL, IACD and honary member of the Romanian Soceity of Cosmetic Dermatology and the Argentinan Society of Dermatologic Surgery. I am on the International advisory board of the 5CC meeting and Sharm Derm Meeting. I am a reviewer of the Indian Journal of Dermatology. I travel a lot lecturing and teaching but also learning.

Dr Michael Gold (USA)

Dr Nicole Kanaris (South Africa)

Dr Pieter Kruger (South Africa)

Dr Pieter Kruger obtained his medical degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 2002. He practiced family medicine from 2006 – 2009 in Alberta, Canada. He then proceeded to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Alberta.


Dr Kruger then completed a 2 year fellowship in Urogynaecology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Toronto and has developed expertise in the management of complex urinary, bladder and pelvic floor disorders as well as endoscopic management of benign gynaecologic conditions like uterine fibroids and endometriosis.

Dr Yashmita Lalloo (South Africa)

After completing her medical degree, Dr Lalloo did her post graduate training in the Department of Dermatology at the University of KwaZulu Natal where she gained many years of clinical and academic experience.


In 2010 she obtained the Fellowship of the College of Dermatology with distinction and was awarded the Jannsen gold medal for academic excellence.


Dr Lalloo practices in Durban and Pietermaritzburg and has a keen interest in aesthetic Dermatology and the science of cosmeceuticals.

Dr Melanie Lambrechts (South Africa)

Dr. Lambrechts graduated from WITS Medical school in 1996. She worked as a general practitioner, medical officer in Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
She spent 4 years with MSD South Africa as a Senior Medical Advisor, and then with Biopure South Africa, first as Pharmacovigilance officer, and then as Country Manager.

In 2008 Dr. Lambrechts entered the Aesthetic industry and in 2012 qualified from the Advanced Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine (FPD, SA). In 2010 she opened The Centre of Wellness in Parkmore, Johannesburg. Dr Pholile Mpofu (South Africa)

Pholile was born and grew up in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga Province. She attended elementary schooling in the same area and completed her matriculation at Inanda Seminary in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Pholile then continued her studies at the Medical University of Southern Africa (“Medunsa”) where she read and successfully completed the medical degree. She was not content with becoming a General Medical Practitioner but she found a niche in the medical field, thereby registering at the College of Medicine of South Africa of which she is now a fellow, as a Dermatologist. If the impeccable reputation of Inanda Seminary’s alumni is anything to go by, it is not surprising that Pholile became the first Black woman Dermatologist and is today one of those women who are icons and the conscience of South Africa’s moral and professional regeneration. Pholile has set up her main practice at Laserderm in Morningside and Lister Building in the heart of Johannesburg. She personifies the credo – “a good medical practitioner is one who is always available to patients.” In this regard, she conducts sessional practices at three other private clinics and despite her tight business schedule, she continues to provide pro bono medical services at the Johannesburg General Hospital, which, in return, presents an opportunity for her to keep abreast with dynamic changes in the medical profession.

Dr Marshall Murdoch (South Africa)

Dr Marshall Murdoch is a Plastic Surgeon in private practice at the Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre and an honorary lecturer in Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand. Dr Norval  worked at Hospice Witwatersrand for 14 years.  For the past 7 years Dr Norval has worked in Aesthetic Medicine, changing her focus to health, wellness and non-surgical cosmetic medicine. Dr Kamlen Pillay (South Africa)

After graduating with an MBChB from the University of Cape Town, Dr Pillay worked as a medical officer in the disciplines of Orthopaedics, General & Plastic Surgery. Having recently returned from the USA, Dr Pillay was appointed as a Plastic Surgery Registrar at the University of Cape Town. During his time is in the US, Dr Pillay pursued his interests in Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery at the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, from where he received his post graduate qualification in Aesthetic Medicine and Board Certificate. As the Medical Director of the Wembley MediSpa, Dr Pillay, ensures that the clinic is dedicated to cutting edge, holistic Aesthetic and Cosmetic procedures. His academic interests include being the course co-ordinator and curriculum advisor of the BTEC Medical Laser course at the Cape Technicon CPUT.

Dr Welf Prager (Germany)

Dr Welf Prager graduated from Medical School at the University of Berlin. During his early years Dr Prager worked within the field of Urology at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. This was followed by work at the Institute of Cardiology and Clinical Pharmacology in Regensburg. Dr Prager earned his degree as a specialist in Dermatology at the University Hospital in Kassel where he also functioned as Consultant Specialist within the field during a few years. Dr Anushka Reddy (South Africa)

Dr Anushka Reddy graduated from Wits University in South Africa in 1997 and has been in the medical profession for 18 years, including thirteen years of aesthetic medicine practice having performed 10 000 cosmetic procedures. She is the owner of Medi-Sculpt Clinic which focuses on non-surgical cosmetic treatments and minimally invasive procedures. Dr Rosalba Russo (Italy)

She specialised in General Surgery with honors from the University of Modena.

She received a diploma in Aesthetic Medicine “Fatebenefratelli” in Rome. Since 2000 she has been a Professor at the Valet University Post – CPMA school in Bologna.

Since 2010, she has been the Vice-President of the Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgey in Florence and supervisor of educational activities and educational programmes presented during training courses organised in collaboration with SIES and Valet.

Dr Russo is the co-author along with Salvatore Piero Fundaro of ‘The Invisible Facelift’ book, which includes the experiences they have had when taking part in medical congresses. She is a member of SIES (Social Italiana of Medicine e Chirungia Estetica) Scientific Committee and is SIES Vice-President.

Dr Russo has already treatment more than 1000 patients with Silhouette Soft and she is amongst the world;s most widely renowned users. She is a part of the Sillhouette International training team and a member of the Sillhouette Medical Advisory Board.

Dr Marc Röscher (South Africa)

Dr Röscher qualified in Medicine at the University of Pretoria 1992. Post Graduate specialist training in Dermatology was also completed at the University of Pretoria 2000. Doctor Röscher completed post graduate masters training courses in Dermatological Surgery (University of Newcastle,UK) and Photodynamic Therapy (Nashville, Tennesee, USA) Dr Röscher has been practicing at the Umhlanga Skin Centre Specialist Laser Clinic since 2000. His special interests include cancer and reconstructive skin surgery , laser surgery and procedural dermatology. He was founder chairperson of the KZN IPA for the 2 years since its inception. Dr Röscher is currently Director Dermatological Surgery, Dept Dermatology, Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, Durban where he teaches dermatological surgery. Dr Röscher serves on two international congress faculty boards (IMCAS, ISDS) and lectures annually at international conferences. Dr Röscher is currently President of the South African Society for Dermatological Surgery and is the Editor in chief of the SA Journal For Dermatological Surgery.

Dr Zak Schabort (South Africa)

Aesthetic dentist to the stars, Dr Zak Schabort, founded The Cosmetic And Dental Emporium at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town in 2010. Since then the brand has grown from strength to strength, with over 20 multidisciplinary practitioners in 6 practices across the country.

Dr Zak specialises in the field of aesthetic dentistry and has trained both locally and abroad. Dr Raj Singh is a specialist Dermatologist in private practice in both Durban and Pietermaritzberg. His special interest is Cosmetic Dermatology. He specialises in Aesthetic Gynaecology, Derm Surgery, Laser Liposuction and Botox/fillers. He has spoken at over 10 international meetings and is part of the faculty of various international meetings. He is also a member of the Collage of Dermatology. Dr Arthur Swift (Canada)

Dr. Arthur Swift attended McGill University in Montreal, achieving honours and high distinction in obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree. Dr. Swift continued on to graduate with scholarships from the McGill University Faculty of Medicine, training both in England and the United States. He received his plastic surgical training in Montreal at McGill and then completed a fellowship in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Miami.

Dr. Swift has been practicing the art of plastic surgery since 1984 and has served on the executive of several plastic surgical societies and international committees. Dr. Swift is presently in private practice in Montreal where his freestanding clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. While Dr. Swift’s medical school honours and board certifications attest to his knowledge, his surgical skill and dedication to patient care are the basis of his greatest recognition. Eugene has been in private practice since 1992. He is registered with the HPCSA as a Clinical Psychologist. He trained as a Clinical Psychologist and finished his internship at 1Military Hospital where a special interest developed in sexual rehabilitation of war veterans. He also have post graduate qualifications in Physiology and biochemistry. A short sponsored internship at the Masters and Johnson Institute (Sexual Health) in St Louis, Missouri, USA was completed. A Doctoral programme followed. Apart from the clinical work done, he is at present the President of the Southern Africa Sexual Health Association. He served on the advisory boards of Pfizer & Bayer Pharmaceutical companies, and previously on the scientific advisory board of the World Association for Sexology. He also acted as the secretary for the African Federation for Sexual Health and Sexual Rights for 4 years. A number of international invitations followed as a lecturer in Sexology in Italy, Tunis, Canada, Cuba, Kenya, Singapore and South Africa. Eugene was certified after completing all the requirements and examination, as a Fellow Sexologist through the Academic Board of the European Federation of Sexology and the European Society for Sexual Medicine in 2014.

Dr Tom van Eijk (Holland)

Based in Amsterdam, Dr. Tom van Eijk is one of Holland’s most famed cosmetic doctors.

After gathering experience in Plastic Surgery for three years, Dr. Tom van Eijk decided in 2003 to concentrate on non-surgical aesthetic treatments by injectables only. In this new and exciting medical field he started experimenting and training his peers how to inject Botulinum Toxin (Botox®, Dysport®) and hyaluronic acid fillers (Restylane®). He developed the Fern Pattern Technique TM, introducing it in Sweden the Fall of 2005.

Dr Gerhard van Niekerk is a full time Aesthetic Practitioner since 2006.
